I’m not sure where the OP got his info but if it was posted on the home page then I’d say there’s a 99.99999% chance of it being true. I love sitting around with my photography buddies and shooting the breeze and I’ll tell them what’s coming up in the future with Canon and they don’t believe me. I always get the last laugh and their gradually catching on! And I refuse to tell them about this site because there starting to think I’m a god!

Just because the sources are unnamed doesn’t mean that it’s not factual. This entire site is built on information from inside connections at Canon. You don’t see the editor here naming names do you? Yet all the information he posts is accurate and time after time it ends up being right. Your just a nay-sayer why are you even on this site if you don’t beleive information from unnamed sources???

Besides, haven’t we already established that an EVIL system would need new lenses to fully realise the potential size and weight reduction?

EF-S is just another legacy compatibility issue for an EVIL system.

Or, if you want to be more precise (I’m bored):

(ln(1.4) – ln(1.2)) / ln(sqrt(2)) = 0.445

So, f/1.4 is 0.445 stops slower than f/1.2, or half a stop, if you want to round it off.

Anyway, never knew Canon was developing torpedos, but seeing their telelenses, i can understand it. If one hits a Nikon, there’s going to be trouble.

Then the 50L is highly due for an update… which it is anyway. I mean, it’s soft wide open (more so than others), it has a horrible focus shift, CA, doesn’t get sharper than the 1.8 at say f/4, and it’s pretty expensive (although not absurd, if it was a good lens). If Canon fixes that, i’d be a happy camper :)
If they don’t, Sigma will be the one getting the sale. Or Samyang, even :D

You say that, but I get pains in my thumb after using my 50D for a long time. It’s not the same for everyone… but I should probably work on my grip :)

An upgrade to the EF 50mm f/1.4 would be nice, as would be a new EF 8mm circular fisheye.
