No Canon Interest in astrophotography?

Has Canon no interest in astrophotography?
They are certainly lacking behind compared to other brands like Nikon and especially Sony in this category (see link below).

Canon users still use the old 6D or modified 6D models or the now discontinued Ra for astro, while Sony are getting more and more popular. I recently bought the R5 and quite a lot of RF lenses, and I love the R5, BUT for astro Canon need to get back in the game!

We need a new Canon R6a and a high quality fast RF zoom astro lens (faster than the f/2.8 15-35mm, like f/1.4 14-21mm.
PLEASE….

The rise of Sony in astro is funny, their on-sensor noise reduction has been nicknamed 'star eater' and it is still present in their current models.
Plus they don't have any astro modified cameras, as far as I know. Sony's marketing genius can't be denied. As long as they have so many internet influencers recommending Sony, people will buy them no matter how good or crappy they are.

Canon's 6Da and Ra are still among the most reco0mmended by astro sites, as far as I could tell.

6Da and Ra are still good cameras, but as you can see (link) Canon seems to be loosing ground amongst photographers who’s astrophotos have been shortlisted for “Astrophoto of the year” for the last five years, so I think it’s fair to assume, that these photographers know their gear as well as the competition on the market.

Furthermore, although RF f/2.8 15-35mm is a very good lens, it’s certainly not optimal for astro, and landscape-astro is a growing community. So in my opinion, Canon really need to produce a faster wide angle RF lens for astro or - even better - allow third party companies like Sigma to enter the market of RF mounts.

Yeah, I don’t want to argue against people actually doing the thing and being successful at it.

My kids are finally at an age where I can start thinking about voluntarily losing sleep to try astro :)

The funny thing is, I spent a lot of time being an amateur astronomer back in the day, and in that community "astrophotography" means taking pictures through a telescope (which will be very narrow field of view!), rather than star fields with a wide angle lens. Which could get entertaining in film days when you wouldn't see your results until later. To be honest at the time it struck me as an exercise in frustration greater than golf. Then a few decades later there were digital cameras but they were expensive because only specialized models could do a long exposure.

If I ever decide to get into it now, of course, I can adapt a telescope onto my camera, and it simply becomes a really big lens.
