Do we Europeans have to order @ B&H or do we have to switch to Sony?

Comparing those pro lenses 135 1.8:

B&H: RF 135L $2099, 135 GM $2098
Europe: RF 135L € 2699, 135 GM €1549

Money gravity train makes US shooting Canon, Europe shooting Sony.
I'd wait a bit, maybe Canon will take notice of this hard to justify price difference and "adapt" their pricing.
What is also to be taken into account, is that Sony is presently practising a price dumping policy in the EU, to get a wider market share. Which explains why the US price of some Sonies can be significantly higher compared to EU.
Switching to Sony: for me, not an alternative...

Unfortunately, the RF version will be incompatible with extenders. This honestly bothers me a little considering how useful I also found it on the EF version.
I'm not trying to justify the inability of this lens to use extenders, but you can set one of the programmable buttons to the 1.6x crop mode. Of course, there's a whole debate regarding extenders vs. cropping, but no need to get into that. Just an option to consider.

This is it, gang. If lenses wore shoes, this new 135L would have some very big shoes to fill. Haha

Before I sold my 135L to fund the RF 70-200, it was easily one of the most important pieces of glass I ever owned. Looking back into my portfolio and still, to this day, shots I’ve taken with that lens are images I’m most proud of. It was a KILLER low light sports lens. It was a KILLER wedding, portrait and candid photography lens. It was a KILLER lens to capture details and the list goes on and on.

The EF 135L had two big problems overall and those were its straight bladed aperture and older coatings. That has been addressed and I can’t wait.

I'm not sure I understand - are you trying to say this lens will be KILLER?

I'd love to have this one. I already use a Sigma DG 135mm adapted to my R5... so it will be difficult to justify the purchase, but I'd still love to have it.
I also have the Sigma 135 Art and it's a wonderful lens; certainly the Canon will be better, and also has IS, and also certainly you won't see the difference unless pixel peeping at 100% in the corners, so i think we can stick to ours (I paid mine 500€ brand new, a real bargain) without being too sad.
Hell yeah, I really would love to have the Canon (I had the EF version years ago, prior to the Sigma), but RF (and especially RF L) are really REALLY too expensive for my pockets, at least brand new (the three I own were bought used).

I'm not bothered by the lack of compatibility, I didn't use extenders with my EF 135L. I didn't see the need, since I had the 70-200/2.8 II as well. I wonder how many people have a 135L prime but not a 70-200/2.8 zoom?

And again not TC compatible :(... (70-200!)
Is the 135 really a lens often used with a TC, though? Primarily this lens is a portrait lens. Yes, it can be used for events and sports, but really a 70-200 is better suited.
Also, I think that's the sacrifice to be made with the rear element basically flush with the mount, allowing it to get closer to the sensor, and producing improved image quality over EF equivalents.

I rarely used the extender so it's not a deal breaker for me. It would be nice to have the 189 2.5L IS option though. Like I said, it gives me an excuse to keep my beloved EF version. I could probably only get 400. or so for it anyway. I found that the EF version's performance in terms of AF accuracy was greatly improved when used on a R5. Concerning the 70-200 zooms, Canon said they would have been bigger and heavier to accommodate extenders. I imagine the same is true here and I'm good with that tradeoff.

I missed the debate. What is the conclusion? Please.

One of the most anticipated lenses for the Canon RF mount is the soon-to-be-shipping Canon RF 135mm f/1.8L IS USM. Initial stock levels we are told will be pretty good, but all preorders likely won’t be met from the big retailers. Canon RF 135mm f/1.8L IS USM Canon RF 135mm f/1.8L IS USM $2099

You're missing the point. The lens hasn't been 'out' for ages, it was announced last year, but starts shipping today. Did you even read the page you linked?

I just checked on my order status with B&H and not good news. I placed my order on November 2, 2022 right when it was released and was told today by Sarah at B&H they do not have an ETA and said "... the stock we're getting in the first batch is very limited."
I did too, like 2 minutes after it went live. Let's see if we made the cut!

The whole beauty of this lens is its compactness. I personally wouldn't see any reason to use with a TC (even if it were possible). There are other lenses "better tools" for that. Its not a zoom, its a prime with more specific use cases. It has versatility when used as it was intended and designed. Even in cases where you used it in "crop mode", but its going to be at its best on a fullframe body. I hope those that pre-ordered early get their orders fulfilled in the "first batch". :)

I did the same with Adorama... I called them today and they have told me that they haven't received any stock as of this morning
