I ordered mine directly thru the canon use website. Got an email Sunday midnight stating "
Your pre-order is expected to ship in approximately 24 - 48 hours. " I kind of figured it was to good to be true. Canon why bother sending out such emails to your customer if you don't intend to actually ship the product within that timeframe. Talk about just pissing people off. The genius that thought that was a good idea should be fired.

I just checked on my order status with B&H and not good news. I placed my order on November 2, 2022 right when it was released and was told today by Sarah at B&H they do not have an ETA and said "... the stock we're getting in the first batch is very limited."
I ordered mine one day after you and expected I'd be high enough in the que for the first batch but it did not ship today. Crap. :(

Like many others, I also ordered at B&H as soon as the button was available to click :). I called them up today and what they informed me was that they hadn't received any yet and that the first small shipment would arrive on Tuesday. The next shipment would probably only be a couple of weeks after that.

In the past, I have ordered both from Canon and B&H and the Canon route turned out to be much quicker (I then canceled B&H). I've also ended up with two using this technique (somewhat painful).

I've also had some luck with my local dealer. This time around, when I went to check the local dealer they had a message on the website that they would be closed on Jan 25-29th because the store had been a victim of armed robbery.

Guess I'll be on the B&H waiting wagon for a while...

Mine shipped from B&H late this afternoon and is In Transit. I’m beyond stoked to put this lens to work immediately. My order was placed within the first 10 minutes of online availability. My friend ordered his in mid November and did not ship.

Any news?
Not really. I got this email yesterday a few hours after I called them:

Hello , my name is Moshe H from the B&H Customer Support Escalation Team.

Unfortunately we don't have an expected delivery date at this time for the CANON RF 135mm F/1.8L IS USM LENS as it is currently backordered by the manufacturer.

As soon as we receive it in stock we will promptly ship it to you. Once the order has been shipped we will notify you via e-mail.

We apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it has caused you.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance.

First time I hear of a Customer Support Escalation Team. It looks like I'm in for delayed gratification! :ROFLMAO:

Please come back with pictures and your take on the lens, we need to live vicariously
You made your wish at the right moment, but I don't think he fulfilled it. You have to deal with it differently.

Today a review of this lens model was published on a South Korean portal known to some photographers:

The photos published there speak for themselves. If you have something to photograph with a lens of this focal length, it is definitely worth buying this lens model. It will be money very well spent.

The tight shots of the young woman's eyes are truly spectacular. The closeups of flowers were great too. That's something my EF version doesn't do very well. I'm glad they shortened the MFD by a foot and upped the magnification too. Mostly, I'm happy to see it retains the EF version's ability to "capture souls."

Wow, fantastic images there. It certainly does retain the legendary EF 135 feel, but has added bonuses!

Oddly enough, that article claims the EF 135L has rounded aperture blades - it doesn’t. It also claims the EF 135L is weather-sealed - it’s not. Not sure how they reached that conclusion, but anyone that has experience shooting the EF version knows for a fact those were a few of major annoyances of owning that beautiful, old lens. Both of which have been resolved with the new RF.
